Cannabis for Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome (CVS)

Cyclic vomiting syndrome (CVS) is a rare condition that usually starts in childhood, and can last well into adulthood. CVS can cause episodes of severe vomiting that last several hours or even days, and there’s no apparent cause. CVS that stops in adulthood can become chronic migraines, and the two conditions are often associated with each other. Some even call CVS "stomach migraines".

There is no known cause of CVS, but endocannabinoid deficiency (or perhaps even overabundance) could be one of them. Cannabis is a well-known treatment for nausea and vomiting, and returning balance to the human body may be one of the reasons why cannabis may help treat CVS. There is also a need to separate CVS and cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome (CHS), as the two share similar symptoms.
